Made this tried and true recipe this week-end. The brownie points are mounting. I'll have to think of something bad to do to use them up.

With Autumn and Winter fast approaching here in Scotland, more Pea and Ham soup was the order of the day in the slow cooker at the weekend. I added one Knorr ham stock cube to the mix this time and it turned out just fine again. :)

Aye, you're right brian. And one clever tinned soup company even came up with the name .. "Granny's" .. as the label for their products. :)
Not quite the same as your own Grandma's home made stuff but very decent tasting nonetheless.

Michaelm- Can you still get Grannys soup up the road, I have not seen that for years ?

Hughie, Now i take it the weather is better now for you, Perhaps you and Bobby can turn your culinary skills to Gazpacho in the mens kitchen. Maybe Betty and Netta would enjoy it.. :)

brian, Granny's Soups were such an iconic brand up here (easily rivalling Baxter's, Campbells, Heinz etc) but I haven't noticed them on display shelves in recent times either. :(

Pretty sure they're closely related glenshena, but the main differences between the two are explained here.

Thanks. I make red lentil soup frequently, it's a great favourite with the family with a touch of bacon flavour and carrots. Green and brown lentils I cook with zampone (pigs feet). I leave them overnight in water before cooking. They are supposed to bring you money if you eat them on new years day.
