Absolutely no need to apologise! I was simply setting the record straight - "FRED" is the ugly brother.

This old image came up on the right during a search and when I looked at it again, I realised a couple of boys weren't identified:
Middle Row, 11: "Biffo" Smith? ... from Stevenston?
Front Row, 11: Gerry Smith? ... from Stevenston?
Were they brothers?

I can't believe I've stumbled across this photo! It's my dad, David McKean (3rd from the left in the middle row) He was an engineer for Scotrail and worked his way up the company until he retired and moved to Canada. That's where he passed away, in 2008.

Thank you so much for posting this photo!
