Hullerhirst House
Hullerhirst House
Whereabouts is this house in Stevenston??
I have found records that state it was a dower house for Kerelaw House, but I cannot think of where this house is. It must be near Kerelaw Castle.

Thanks !! Still not clear where to find it though?!?
I wonder if it is that house at the start of the middle road from the top of the Hayocks going towards Kilwinning? It kind of looks familiar to me for some reason.

Viv,
If you haven't done it already, the map can be dragged or focused with your mouse, placing the house out Whitehirst Park way. I don't know Stevenston enough to help you further.

Viv, if you walk ( or in YOUR case, cycle ) up the middle country road, pass the new turning for the fire station, pass the two white pillars on the right, which is another farm, Hullerhirst House is the next one you come to on the right.
It sits on a bit of a hill and has a red barn on the left as you look at it from the country road. It's roughly 600 yards from Castlehill Road. Also, I'd guess about half a mile or so from Kerelaw Castle.

Penny Tray the map is very clear and it also gives N.G.R. Viv go up the middle road over the by-pass bridge and the first opening on your right is the driveway to Hullerhurst House. If you carry on the middle road the next opening on your right is to Hillhead farm.Penny Tray wrote:Viv,
It's mentioned in the following link:-

Walked past here this morning. This house is derelict. The roof has caved in looks like it’s fire damaged. Shame it’s a cracking looking house.

The old porch don’t look like that no more..
Re: Hullerhirst House
It's all very academic now, but maybe representative of the planning system then that some Cooncil body believed that that particular crime of a porch plonked onto the facade of an 18th century house was an improvement
