True 'ONE POT' Ideas.
Re: True 'ONE POT' Ideas.
Morag: How strongly does the Mayo come through in this recipe ?
Just remembered, she doesn't like Mayo either but if the flavour doesn't come through too strongly then
maybe I could disguise the fact that there is Mayo in it, by playing around and tweeking the Ingredients ?
Or, is there any way that Mayo can be substituted ?
You may have a point about the cheese but I will give it a go anyway.
Don't think I could bring myself to buy that plastic stuff, even as a last resort ?

The mayo doesn't come across as more than a tasty white sauce. Not a mayo fan myself but think you may need the fake cheese! lol! I make this without the ham..added later for the meat eaters or you could sub smoked salmon chunks, throw some broccoli florets in..quite versatile!

Thank's Mac:
There is something familiar about that site ?
Maybe I've stumbled across it some time ago and then forgot about it ?
Thank you.
Perfect

To be honest though, LP, stovies are a side dish, pretty much tatties and onions. i know folk augment this but..

Traditionally it was a main meal on a Monday, it was made up from the left overs from the Sunday dinner.morag wrote:To be honest though, LP, stovies are a side dish, pretty much tatties and onions. i know folk augment this but..
Richard, you could try a selection of pot noodles.

Re: True 'ONE POT' Ideas.
Stovies: stewed potatoes; a thick stew of potatoes, lard, onions and sausage meat or
corned beef; Irish stew.
Source: The Chambers Dictionary.
I don't know where they get their information from but that's certainly not the Irish stew I'm used to ?
Stovies: dripping, onion, potatoes, left-over cooked meat, some grated cheese, salt & pepper.
Source: Traditional Scottish Favourites, (Caledonian Recipes).
That's the stew, (sorry, Stovies ), I'm used to.
Stovies is so named because I't Is one of several dishes that were cooked on top of the stove and not in
the oven, such as Stoved Chicken or Stoved Bacon & Turnip. Probably stems back hundreds of years,
before the invention of the oven ?
Lovely "noodle" idea, LP.

Re: True 'ONE POT' Ideas.
Richard, every now and then I make a Thai/Indian style curry from scratch, granted I would have a pot of rice on the go.
To follow the one pot idea, cancel the rice and purchase nan bread from the supermarket as an accompaniment, it's not cheating giving the nan bread a wee ding in the micro.

At first, I thought you were extracting the urine, LP.
Now I see where your coming from. Good idea. Will give it a try once I feel brave enough.
Especially since my favourite "foreign" food is Indian, (South Indian, to be more precise).
The nan bread idea is perfectly acceptable, just within the rules.
I often heat little extras, such as garlic bread or petit pans, in the oven to accompany meals.
Good call.
Thank's.
