FLOWER SHOW AT STEVENSTON

Yesterday the annual show of the Horticultural Society was held in the Conservative Hall. Although the exhibits showed a falling off, the quality was excellent, and in some classes excelled former years.

The tables of greenhouse plants looked well, and in this class, Mr James Davidson, florist, took first prize.

SALTCOATS, ARDROSSAN, AND STEVENSTON FLOWER SHOW

Yesterday, the annual exhibition of this society took place in Kyleshill School, and attracted a good deal of interest.

The most striking feature of this show, probably, was the large and beautiful collection of cut flowers, which were greatly admired, stacks, pansies, and gladioli, being particularly meritorious. The hand and table bouquets were exceedingly tastefully arranged, and attracted much attention. Of pot plants there was a fine display, though the entries were scarcely so numerous as usual in this class. Good collections of fruit and vegetables were shown.

Provost McIsaac, Parkend, exhibited a large and choice collection of greenhouse plants, which were much admired.

Mr J. B. Ross, florist, Saltcoats, had also on exhibition a fine lot of plants of various kinds.

Mr J. Clasper, florist, Stevenston, had a nice lot of Scotch marigolds on view.

On the whole the show was very good, and a large number of visitors were attracted to it, notwithstanding that the evening turned out wet.

Capital music was provided by Mr Leckie’s quadrille band from Ardrossan.

The judges were: - Messrs R. Inglis, Kilbarchan; John McInnes, Maxwellton Gardens, Paisley; George Lister, Crossflat, Paisley.

The following are the prize-takers: -
