The Celtic Had rather the best of the play in the first half and were leading 2 goals to 1 at half- time.

On resuming Thistle pressed hard and scored 2 goals.

Result: - Thistle, 3; Celtic, 2.

What happened to Stevenston Thistle did they reform under a different name?

SCOTTISH JUNIOR FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION

The Scottish Junior Association Radius and Competition Committee met in Glasgow last night…..The Renfrewshire League protested against Eaglesham leaving that body and joining the Scottish League after signing their agreement. It was decided to hold them to the County League, thus leaving a vacancy in the Scottish League Second Division. A similar case was that of the Kilmarnock and District League, who appealed against Troon Athletic leaving to take up the place of Stevenston Thistle, who were expelled from the Western League on account of having no ground of their own. Troon were held to the Kilmarnock League.

Ardeer Thistle were founded in 1900 so co-existed with Stevenston Thistle for twenty years. Incidentally, I watched Ardeer Thistle win their first point of the season last Saturday in a 1-1 draw with Saltcoats Vics at Campbell Park.

Needle in a thigh

SINGULAR FACT.-A few days ago, a woman residing in the village of Stevenston, who had for some time been affected with a severe swelling in the thigh, applied to Dr. Brown, of Saltcoats, in order to get the pain alleviated. After minutely examining the swollen part, the doctor commenced to operate, and succeeded, after considerable labour, in extracting a sewing needle, about an inch and a half long, which the patient had swallowed nearly 30 years ago.-Caledonian Mercury.

These teams played a friendly game at Stevenston.

In the first half play was pretty evenly contested, the home team scoring.

In the second half both teams scored one goal, but towards the finish Thistle had most of the play. The strong defence of Johnstone, however, preventing them adding to their score.

Result: - Thistle, 2; Johnstone, 1.


2nd JOHNSTONE v. 2ND STEVENSTON THISTLE

The Johnstone had by far the best of the play.

At half-time the ground team were leading by 4 goals to 1.

In the second half the Stevenston players seem to lose heart, and the ground team ran up a score of 9 goals to 1.

AYR PARKHOUSE v. STEVENSTON THISTLE

The second game in the first round of the above competition between these teams was played at Beresford Park, Ayr.

In the first half Muirhead and Salmond scored for Stevenston, and Young and Muir for the Parkhouse.

On restarting Salmond again gave Stevenston the lead. Orr equalised for Parkhouse but Blair added another for Stevenston, who showed the better form throughout.

Result: - Stevenston, 4; Parkhouse, 3.

Over the two games Parkhouse has lead of one goal.

CUNNINGHAME HARRIERS

The club had a run from Stevenston on Saturday.

The hares (Messrs Gourlay and Robertson) were sent off, and four minutes later the pack followed, with R. Donaldson as pace and H. Hughes whip.

The route was by Ardeer grounds across the Kilwinning road above Stevenston and through the fields of Kerelaw Mains. A detour of about a mile and the trail again joined the high road near to Saltcoats, and kept the road till above Ardrossan. The turn home was made here along the Caledonian Railway to the head of Raise Street and through the fields via Auchenharvie to the Saltcoats side of Stevenston.
