FOOTBALL – SCOTTISH CUP 3RD ROUND
ROYAL ALBERT v. STEVENSTON THISTLE

At Larkhall on Saturday afternoon in the third round of the Scottish Cup. Both teams were strongly represented.

Throughout the first half, play was hard and both goals were in turn assailed. No goals were scored.

Within a minute of the restart, Albert put the ball through. A hard game ended in a win for the Albert by six goals to nothing.

A FREQUENT OFFENDER

At Kilmarnock Sheriff Court yesterday JANET DALZIEL, hand sewer, Schoolwell Street, Stevenston, pleaded guilty to breach of the peace and malicious mischief there on the 14th instant. She had been 16 times previously convicted, receiving 60 days’ imprisonment on each of the last six occasions.

She was sentenced to 60 days’ imprisonment.

AYR PARKHOUSE v. STEVENSTON THISTLE

These teams me in the second game of the first round of the Ayrshire Cup competition on Beresford Park, Ayr, on Saturday.

The previous game ended in a draw, each team scoring one goal.

Result: - Parkhouse, 3; Thistle, 2.

The Stevenston players, displeased with the decision of the referee as to the last goal scored for Parkhouse, left the field ten minutes before time.

A protest has been lodged by Stevenston against the decision of the referee.

AYRSHIRE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION

This association met at Kilmarnock last night – Mr. Yuille, Irvine, in the chair.

Stevenston Thistle protested against the Parkhouse win on the ground that the referee was incompetent, and awarded a goal after the whistle had been blown for a foul.

The referee attended, and explained that the whistle was blown by an outsider. Stevenston left the field fifteen minutes before time was up.

It was agreed by the casting vote of the chairman, to dismiss the protest, but to return 10s lodged.

CHILD DROWNED

On Saturday forenoon a girl, five years of age, daughter of Mr. G. Armour, painter, New Street, Stevenston, was playing at the foot of the garden, when she approached Stevenston burn, which runs past, and the girl accidentally fell in. Her companions gave the alarm, but the child was swept away by the stream, which was in flood.

The body has not been recovered yet.

The Celtic Had rather the best of the play in the first half and were leading 2 goals to 1 at half- time.

On resuming Thistle pressed hard and scored 2 goals.

Result: - Thistle, 3; Celtic, 2.
