GLASGOW HERALD
25 APRIL 1905
SPRING HOLIDAY TRAFFIC
A great many holiday-makers visited Ardrossan yesterday, and an even greater number passed through to Arran. The spring sailings to the island have now been taken up by the JUPITER and the DUCHESS OF ROTHESAY, and despite the bitterly cold wind which blew all day both steamers had well-nigh their full complement of passengers for the morning sail across the firth.
On Saturday night too an unusually large number of passengers crossed to Belfast via Ardrossan.

CASUALTY OF WAR
25 APRIL 1915
The photograph below refers to a JAMES WHITEHEAD, a name which appears on the WW1 Memorial at Ardrossan, but which isn’t accompanied by any family intimation in the Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald to pinpoint exactly who he was.
However, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, and www.naval-history.net both list a Petty Officer James Whitehead, Service No. 1/1853, Clyde Anson Battalion, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, who died at the Gallipoli Campaign on 25 April, 1915, and this link seems likely.
