SHIPPING CASUALTY
Newport: Monday, 6 November – the JESSMORE from Ardrossan, when entering Alexandria Dock collided with the pierhead, doing damage to same. The steamer has a slight dent on the starboard bow.

ARDROSSAN SCHOOL BOARD
At the monthly meeting of this board – Rev. J. D. McCall, chairman – the officer’s report showed that in the Ardrossan district the number on the roll was 960, of whom 907 were in attendance.
At the Public School (No. 2 Ardrossan) the roll showed an attendance of 410, or 86 per cent.
In Saltcoats district the number on the roll is 775, and attending 740. At the Public School there the attendance was 533 or 86.6 per cent.

ARDROSSAN FARMERS’ SOCIETY SHOW
The annual show in connection with the above society was held on a field at Parkhouse yesterday. The show was the best within the last ten years. Several popular events were introduced, which brought about a large attendance of the public.

THE STORM
Ardrossan:
The full force of the hurricane was felt here on Wednesday night, and not a few chimney cans and slates were thrown upon the streets. Several people were also carried completely off their feet by the violence of the gale, but fortunately without sustaining serious injury. No serious damage was caused to property.

THE NAVVIES MISSION
A final meeting of the council was held in the Town Hall, Ardrossan, on Saturday – the Hon. G. R. Vernon, M.P., presiding.
The treasurer’s statement of accounts showed a credit balance of £44 16s 8d, and a resolution submitted by Mr. Emslie, to the effect that this sum should be invested in the name of the joint-treasurers, to be used as they saw fit in support of any local charity was adopted unanimously.

The 89th quarterly report and balance sheet of the Ardrossan Co-operative Society Limited, which has been passed shows that the cash drawing for the 13 weeks amount to £3615 5s 2d, being an increase on the corresponding quarter last year.
Present membership is 400.
