AYR COUNTY COUNCIL

Sheriff Lorimer heard evidence in Ayr Sheriff Court yesterday with reference to a petition for additional representation on the County Council.

The petition proposed that in the district of Stevenston and Ardrossan there should be one representative for the Lighting and Cleansing District of Stevenston and another for the remainder of the electoral division.

The Sheriff made avizandum.

Ardrossan –3285 coastwise tons; 525 foreign tons; Total 3810 tons.

ARDROSSAN FARMERS’ SOCIETY

The society held its annual show in a field near the Cannon Hill. The weather, although dry, was somewhat cold, and still there was a good attendance.

The dinner took place in the Eglinton Hotel at three o’clock. About 40 gentlemen were present. The chair was occupied Mr Andrew Allan, of Munnoch, Dalry.

After the dinner, the chairman gave the “Ardrossan Farmers’ Society” which was drunk with all the honours.

ARDROSSAN PAROCHIAL BOARD

The usual monthly meeting of this Board was held in Town Hall on Thursday night – Mr Fullarton, ironmonger, presiding.

Doctor Kinnier was appointed medical officer for the district of Old Ardrossan, and Doctor Gaff for New Ardrossan, salaries and conditions to be as formerly.

Mr Alexander Ingram was continued as auditor for the Board.
