SALTCOATS MAN KILLED AT VANCOUVER
An explosion at the Explosives Factory at Vancouver Island, British Columbia, caused the death of Mr. George Robb, who for a number of years resided in Saltcoats.
Mr. Robb was for about 15 years employed at Nobel’s Ardeer Factory, and afterwards engaged at the same class of work in South Africa.
Five years ago he went to Vancouver Island and was lately joined by his wife and family.
He was well known in Saltcoats and Stevenston district, where some of his relatives reside.

MUNICIPAL MEETING – SALTCOATS
Provost McIsaac presiding.
Mr. Thomas Smith, writer, was, on the motion of Bailie Duncan, seconded by Mr. McIntyre, appointed procurator fiscal in room of the late Mr. James Gray.
It was agreed to send a deputation to Ardrossan to secure their co-operation with a view to acquiring the Holm Plantation from Lord Eglinton as a public park.
A circular from the Local Government Board indicated that the number of members for the Parish Council for Ardrossan Parish would be 15, of which Ardrossan would have 8, Saltcoats 6, and the landward part 1.
For Stevenston parish the number would be 11, of which Stevenston would have 8, and Saltcoats 3.

MUNICIPAL MEETING – SALTCOATS
Provost McIsaac presiding.
A discussion took place as to whether or not the Gas Company were responsible for the damage done to Vernon Street drain, and it was remitted to the Works Committee to make inquiry.
The Commissioners afterwards discussed a proposal that they should provide Saturday evening concerts, at a popular price. While declining financial responsibility, they agreed to give the Town Hall at a reduced rate to the promoter, and otherwise encourage the scheme.

SALTCOATS VICTORIA v. 21ST ROYAL SCOTS FUSILIERS
These teams met at Saltcoats. The game was a very good one and keenly contested.
The Fusiliers had the best of matters in the first half scoring one goal, but when ends were changed the local team pulled up, and put on two goals.
Result: - Victoria, 2; Fusiliers, 1.
