GLENAFTON SANATORIUM

A special meeting of Saltcoats Town Council was held last night – Provost Donaldson presiding – to consider a communication from Mr Welsh, Clerk to the Joint Committee of Ayrshire County Council, stating that the Committee had under consideration the request of Saltcoats Town Council to provide in the constitution of the Glenafton Sanatorium that the annual expenditure and administrative charges together must not necessitate of a rate of over one penny per £1.

The Committee had agreed to this recommendation and requested the Town Council to send a letter of acceptance per return or the Committee would require to leave Saltcoats Town Council out of the combination.

After discussion, it was unanimously agreed, on the motion of Mr Blakely, seconded by Mr Hugh Thomson, to accept the terms contained in Mr Welsh’s letter and enter the combination, subject to the adjustment of clauses referred to.
