MUNICIPAL MEETING – SALTCOATS
At a meeting of Commissioners on Monday night – Provost McIsaac presiding – Messrs Alpine, Glen, and Campbell were appointed members of the Works Committee, and Messrs Taylor, Service, and Kerr were appointed a Finance Committee.
The Collector of Rates is to be allowed a commission of 4½ per cent to cover his commission and all outlay incurred by him, including assessment rolls.

WILLIAM BROWN LEGACIES
The legacies left by the late WILLIAM BROWN, junior, Esquire, of Parkend, Saltcoats, to public institutions, were paid over by the trustee last week.
They are as follows: -
Minister and Kirk Session of Stevenston, the interest to be applied for behoof the indigent and poor in that part of Saltcoats which is in Stevenston parish, giving a preference to those parties not on the poor roll, £200; Female Benevolent Society, Saltcoats, £50; Female Charity School, Saltcoats, £50; Subscription School, Saltcoats, £50; Kyleshill School for Boys, £50; Schemes of the Church of Scotland, £110; and Glasgow Royal Infirmary, on condition of receiving two patients yearly from district of Saltcoats, £100.
Total, £610.

Departed this life, at 10 o’clock p.m. on the 16th instant, at St. Marnock Buildings, Saltcoats, Jane, aged 48, daughter of the late Samuel Crocket, Esquire, manager of Stevenston Collieries, and relict of James Taylor, New York United States.
