Promotion

Chief Inspector John Anderson, son of the late Provost Anderson, of Saltcoats, has been promoted Superintendent and placed in charge of the Lanark Division of Lanarkshire Constabulary.

Many friends in this district (where he is probably better known as the man that “bate" the Rangers when playing at centre for Ayr United) will be sending congratulations.

THE SCHOOL BOYS’ STRIKE

Saltcoats:
Yesterday afternoon about 30 boys came out on strike from Saltcoats Public School. They were in the fourth, fifth, and sixth standards, and it is said that they wished shorter school hours.

They marched to Ardrossan and afterwards returned to the playground.

The scholars in Standard VI repented of the step they had taken, and entering school at four o’clock, stood their punishment.
