I first heard the original “Ghost riders in the Sky” in the Douglas’s lounge, not sure but I think it might have been Joe Slaven who sung it.

My dad would have been 85 so I assume that we will find that all those that might remember the words won’t be computer Or social media literate Lol. But if I ever do get the words I will definitely post them on here.

he beat the left back just with ease and started on his run
The right back tried his best
But he was also done
And then he cut in goalwards and
With a body roll
He hit that ball hard with his left
And scored a glorious goal
The fans went crazy with delight
To watch this lovely scene
For their opponents wore a strip
Designed in white and green
The final score was rangers 3
And Glasgow Celtic 1
And Scotland's winger from that day was Mrs waddells son
Yippy aye ay ghost riders in the sky

I found the lyrics. Hope this helps guys. I’m so glad.

Brilliant! Been sweating on that for a few years. Here's what we know now.

To the tune of Ghost Riders in the Sky:

A good left back came running out one bright and sunny day
And on the turf at Ibrox he came out there to play
And up against him there that day was Misses Waddell's son
The finest player on the field and Scotland's number one.

he beat the left back just with ease and started on his run
The right back tried his best
But he was also done
And then he cut in goalwards and
With a body roll
He hit that ball hard with his left
And scored a glorious goal
The fans went crazy with delight
To watch this lovely scene
For their opponents wore a strip
Designed in white and green
The final score was rangers 3
And Glasgow Celtic 1
And Scotland's winger from that day was Mrs waddells son
Yippy aye ay ghost riders in the sky

Willie Thornton passed the ball to Findlay on his right and Findlay held on to the ball till waddell came in sight and when wee waddell got the ball some 60,000 thousand sighed he saw the left back coming and heard the left back cry yippee aye ay what will I Dae Willie waddells on his way

Hughie I missed out the second verse yesterday in all the excitement lol. That’s the full song if I remember correctly. Asked on rangers archives on Facebook and a 80 year old replied within the hour. 5 years I’ve been looking.

Glad we’re all happy now lol
