Last night I watched a documentary on the building of the QE2. I remember going to see her at Greenock in 1967 when she was nearly finished , but last night only Clydebank was mentioned - John Browns Shipyard, where she was built and launched by the Queen - not a mention of Greenock. Am I mistaken in thinking that Greenock was where she was built?

QE2 was built at John Brown's, Clydebank and launched on 20 September 1967.

So she did pass Greenock, but did she never berth there? If it wasnt the QE2, what other ship would I have seen there?

She definitely berthed at the Ocean Terminal in Greenock, for the last time, I think, in October 2008. The number of visitors caused traffic chaos.
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.

Apparently she was fitted out at Greenock according to this newspaper article.

Just been reading in the Telegraph website that there is a campaign starting, to bring Qe2 home to Glasgow. She is lying in a dock in Dubai rotting.

It would be wonderful to have her back in Scotland as a tourist attraction. Being named after her, our Queen Elizabeth must be sad to see it deteriorating in Dubai. Perhaps she could help out bringing it back home.

Mind you, Donald Trump's mother was Scottish, maybe he would be pleased to lend a hand.
