Out of respect for the original owners I don’t see the need to climb it. Years ago there was a lot of damage being done by climbers.

Id second that Netta, people were leaving there rubbish at the top etc etc,no respect...

I agree - I’m sure there’s mountains galore in Oz that could be climbed instead - if somewhere has religious significance, it should be respected.

Meg, Religious significance should be the biggest factor. Correct.

bobnetau and Sarah- It was shocking that visitors left garbage- mind you there are worst. Mount Everest is the biggest rubbish tip out.

Hi Brian,
as I understand it, the 'rubbish' left behind on Everest is discarded equipment, not old crisp packets and empty beer cans.
