Caught a Ewan McGregor film last night that I missed first time round - Salmon Fishing in the Yemen - what a delightful movie - thoroughly enjoyed it. Saturday TV is just end to end game shows of all flavours so we were looking for light entertainment - this fitted the bill. Would really recommend.

Motherless Brooklyn

Best I've seen since goodness knows when
(OK I watched The Straight Story, again, last week Fine film but not the same)

It's done in a Neo-noir 50s crime style, like the Maltese Falcon, Raymond Chandler type of films (OK he was the writer ,but you get the gist)
It was written and directed by Edward Norton, he also star in it with Bruce Willis, and a few more known faces, more stage actors
Along with Norton, the film also stars Bruce Willis, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Bobby Cannavale, Cherry Jones, Alec Baldwin, Ethan Suplee and Willem Dafoe.
What Norton does is adapt the genre , the film is bright instead of the usual dark, clear long shots
He uses jazz scenes differently , again not the usual style
Norton's character has Tourette syndrome and OCD, often alienating him from people, but his strong verbal and photographic memory make him a good detective.

Just been to see the latest James Bond film - NO TIME TO DIE. I think its one of the best ever James Bond films. Action from start to finish lasting almost three hours, but with a very sad ending. Found it strange that when we purchased PopCorn and drinks in the cinema they wouldn't accept cash, only cards! Changed days.

Yesterday the wee wummin and myself went to see "The last Duel" good movie except they went back in time to show what had been shown twice before which tended to spoil it near the end.

On the comment about not taking cash, I have had a few words with a supermarket here who tried to go cashless. I told the manager every time I came in for my weekly shopping and the cashier put it all through the bar code scanner and refused to take cash I would walk away and let them repack it on the shelves. I told him I would tell all my friends who disagreed with the policy to do the same.

Yesterday we went to see Will Smith as the father of Venus and Serena Williams. A true story lasting two and a half hours.
Worth going to see.

SPENCER featuring Kristin Stewart as Princess Diana.
A troubled, unhappy soul, imagining all kind of ghosts in her past, true or invented.
Kristin Stewart played the parte splendidly, and the location was impressive. But the background violin or cello music was a bit heavy and very dramatic at times.
A Diana that I would personaly prefer not to see.

Elvis. The actor who played Elvis was terrific, he was made up to look so like the star It was incredibile. Even at the end his face was made up so well as he had put on so much weight. The girl who played Priscilla was also very similar. Tom Hanks played the rogue col. Parker. Well worth going to see.

Watched Belfast again last night - George hadn’t seen it, it reminded me so much of my childhood visits to my gran’s family pre- 1969. It’s in black and white which adds to the atmosphere - really enjoyed it second time round. I’d make our politicians watch it to remind them of how NI used to be before the GFA!
