Greenhouse on Glencairn Street?

Post by stivis »

I passed the location last week ( between McGregor Ave and Wallace Ave )and looked up to where the house is and thought "What was their name"
McPhee? Would that be correct?
He was an ICI worker, possibly a policeman, again is that correct?

Is that where you could buy tomatoes in the summer? I remember getting the Stevenston Pillar Box bus from Clyde Terrace to the Cross and cutting up past the church to go and buy Scotch tomatoes there.

Yes, it was McFee's (sp.?)
I visited an old country house in rural Devon a couple of years back and noted the guide's Scottish accent - when I spoke to her she said she was one of the family which took over the business from the McFees, but kept the name.
