Looking for something else yesterday evening, I came across the following in CANMORE - the National Record of the Historic Environment: -
"A hoard of English silver coins, 216 in number and ranging from Mary Tudor to Charles I, were ploughed up on Chapelton Farm, West Kilbride (which straddles the parishes of Ardrossan and West Kilbride on the North Shore road) in April 1870. After seizure as treasure trove they were returned to the estate owner, the Earl of Eglinton.
A hoard of 360 coins, ranging from Edward VI to Charles II and including a number of foreign coins, especially German and Austrian, was discovered before 1876 by J. McPherson, a ploughman, while working on a hill face in front of Chapelton Cottages. They had probably been enclosed in a canvas bag which had mouldered away."

More old coins
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.
Re: More old coins
If you ever find treasure trove make sure you declare it or you will be banged up for 18 years like the 2 Metal detectorists yesterday at Worcester Crown Court.A bit excessive i think.
