Unexpected return of lost husband

Post by Hughie »

Clifton and Redland Free Press
20 June 1890

A Greenock man nearly assumed the Enoch Arden róle. A body washed ashore at Ardrossan, having been identified by the wife, was declared to be his. The "widow" obtained the insurance money, and was soon after courted by a young man. The wedding was about to take place, when the missing man walked into the house, entirely upsetting the matrimonial arrangements.

See a fuller story in Ardrossan - this day in history.
