The Caledonian Hotel, Ardrossan

Post by Penny Tray »

A previous topic suggested that the Caledonian Hotel, Ardrossan (formerly Kilmahew House) definitely existed circa 1892/1893.

The following family intimations seem to indicate the hotel must have existed over a wider period: -

GLASGOW HERALD
29 MARCH 1896

DEATH

ANDERSON: At the Caledonian Hotel, Ardrossan, on the 25th instant, Catherine Watson, widow of the late James Anderson, paint, colour, and cement manufacturer, Glasgow.

GLASGOW HERALD
25 OCTOBER 1897

MARRIAGE

McDONALD - ADAM: At the Caledonian Hotel, Ardrossan, on the 22nd instant, by the Rev. J. D. McCall, James V. B. McDonald, to Elizabeth McGregor, eldest daughter of David Adam, Ardrossan.
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.
