Hi, all, Just thought I'd try to keep this thread alive. A word I remember is "jeest", which often was a corruption of just and sometimes of joist. Another use it had, however, was as a blustering term to try to ward off awkward questions. EG:- Big guy "thar's knackered", small guy "how is it knackered?". Big guy "JEEST!!". End of conversation!! - -- "Rake"-as in "wheen".---"gommerel"-usually a not-too-bright person.---"wabbit"-tired. I await all your responses with keen anticipation. Cheers, A.B.
