Clootie dumpling

Post by GordMac »

When my brothers and myself had a birthday it became a tradition that my my mother would make a clottie dumpling, and they we're excellent.Unfortunately when she passed on we were too late to ask how she made one.I remember being sent to Ross's dairy for buttermilk and to the Butchers for suet( none of this vegetarian rubbish). Can anybody furnish the rest of the ingredients and what to do with them. She also made passabble stovies, but she took that recipe with her as well.We should have listened more, although her timer in modern times would be called a fire alarm.

And it used to be the charms each meant something.
