Re: FIGS
Fig newtons are American I think. Fig trees wouldnt be able to produce fruit this far north in Europe, although syrup of figs will ring a bell with some of our members. I use figs in my christmas pudding recipe. The recipe I have has no flour, but uses breadcrumbs. Can post if anyone wants.

Re: FIGS
I have 2 fig trees, neither planted by me, no doubt thanks to local fauna. One has excellent fruit, the other's texture is like styrofoam, and tasteless.

Re: FIGS
The fig tree in the back with the good fruit gets full sun, the one in the front dappled shade. Also have 2 loquats, also not planted by me, interesting trees ..apart from the fruit which is nice, you can make a nutritious tea from the leaves and, apparently, a coffee like thing from the ground up pits, very easy to propagate from the pits.

They sell the fruit here too, but I've never tasted it. Golf woods are so called because, traditionally, they had a club head that was made from hardwood, generally persimmon.
See the things you learn here at the three towns academy.
