Scottish steak mince

Post by brian f »

Whats your secret to make a chilli con carne ?
Must confess i have always used packets or jars of sauce .
My wife and myself find rice bland so we have it with pitta bread and sour cream .
The hotter the better,
Tastes better the next day :)

I'll need to look up my husbands recipe..he made a really good one. We had it with grated cheddar and tortillas. Ad, of course, Tabasco..think out family has kept them in business!

Interestingly, I hope, on visits home when I'd make tacos, going to the butcher I asked for ground beef. Apparently it's twice minced. A butcher in Irvine mall informed me and made it for me, more tender and , well obviously smaller bits than mince.

Talking about butchers i used to do the messages now and then as a youngster i would be sent to Woodsides in Kilwinning to buy beef olives and told not to forget about the special spice the butcher would add .
This was a great meal on a Sunday with Ayrshires and veg .
Sorry if this is off topic.
