Stevenston 1950's.

Post by dickiemax »

Taken down near the Crosskeys bus run for soccer match in the 50's (date unknown). Some of the locals may be recognized and a few names come to mind. Dun Maxwell, Paddy Lennon, Hugh McCann, Blind Jock Kelso, Andy McIlroy, Tommy Thomson, Bill Gibb and the owner of the pub Crosskeys….big Alec......and others.

Fascinating to see the bunnet/nae bunnet look as a direct function of age.

Is it possible that the man standing fourth from the left could be PORRIE GRIMLEY of Stevenston - renowned in Junior Football circles as the man with the loudest/longest shout in football history?
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.
