Hi Jim, I think Sarah McCreadie (Dillon), may have been the neice of my great grandmother, also Sarah Dillon (1869 - 1962) who was married to Saltcoats businessman and fish merchant, Robert Reid. Terry Dillon, my great granmothers brother had a daughter Sarah who married a McCreadie. I think some of the children of Sarahs Daughter (Maraid Ballantyne) live in the Saltcoats area as well as other McCready and Millar relatives.
I dont live there myself any longer, but visit from time to time.

Hi Jim,
Came across this mcCreadie topic this afternoon . Did Terence Dillon have a blacksmiths shop in Quay St?

Sarah and Bob McCreadie had three children , Marade , John and Terry. Marade and and John are now deceased and Terry who went to sea was living in Irvine ,last I heard. John and I were friends as boys and indeed went through our National Service together 1953-1955 both wangling our way in to the Royal Army Education Corps. We were both based in Yorkshire and John stayed down there after demob.

Regards,
Mike

I just found this forum and wanted to let you know that I am the grandson of Robert Andrew McCreadie and Sarah Dillon. They did indeed live at Albion Cottage, Saltcoats where as children we spent many a summer holiday. My father, John B. McCreadie stayed in York after completing his National Service and ultimately met and married my mother Ann Deacon.
I was recently in Irvine to celebrate my uncle’s 80th birthday. Terry is the last of Robert and Sarah’s children.
I have many photos of the family and would be happy to post if anyone has interest. FYI, I just had a tattoo of Semper Paratus forever “inked” on my wrist. The phrase “Always Ready“ is the McCreadie family motto and a lasting memory of my father who we lost in 2014. I moved from the UK to the USA in 1984 but am still in regular contact with the extended McCreadie family in Scotland. Happy New Year to the McCreadie/Ayrshire diaspora!
