Link between Samuel Croker and Patrick Warner

Post by R.Ingley »

Hi all,

I have been following my family history which traces back to Samuel Croker and his wife Janet Burns.
In the 1819 census list, Samuel Croker is listed as an 'extra' associated with Mr and Mrs Warner.

Is anyone able to tell me what this may mean in terms of associations? Samuel appears to have named a son after him (Patrick Warner Croker) and Warner has since been passed down as a common family middle name.

I have not yet found any records for Samuel Crokers parents.

Appreciate any help or advice. I am from New Zealand but will be travelling to Scotland in July this year and plan on making a visit to Stevenston.

Thanks,

Rhian

Hi Rhian,
If you go to the 1819 census on theThreetowners Homepage and search for Warner, you'll find Samuel Croker mentioned as his factor (estate manager).

Edit -looks like the Janet Barr is a mistake? Buried as dau.of William Burns.

I have a copy of the Old Parish Record for Jane (one of my ancestors is also on it). The name is not written clearly so the transcriber must have made the mistake of copying the name as Barr.
