i remember this alot.the ballroom it was great neil on the piano,bobby grant drums.

i did my stint as firstly cleaner then waitress then progressed to barmaid in bute bar or should i say Anderson Lounge as thats what upstairs was called, and i loved every minute i was there.

We used to call it the Ponderosa, wonder who gave it that name?

Unicornheart, re Anderson lounge, can you remember
Gibby Anderson charging the foreign sailors for " Ardrossan Water " in their whisky? The fly old codger poured it out of the tap into labelled bottles. Also, in the 80s after a fire, when the place was being renovated, we found some empty whisky bottles in an outhouse. I think the name of the stuff was "Heather Cream" and was bottled by G. Anderson&Co. Apparently it was common practice and perfectly legal for publicans to buy whisky in bulk and blend/bottle it themselves at one time. Who knows what some of them got up to? Cheers, A.B.
