Meg,

I'm maybe misunderstanding your interpretation of a "tipped single" but I was thinking it was more to do with spoiling an untipped roll-up

Mind you, I've never smoked!

Tipped singles were exactly that - and were 3d, usually sold out a packet of Bristol. But it think it meant slevering over the end of any cigarette - plain, tipped or rolled - Brian?

From what I recall it was known as a "Cow's Lick" when sharing a cigarette with another and they left the end damp.

Meg, Penny Tray and Hughie - You have each earned a Gold star!

I have not heard of Bristol before. But remember 5 Park Drive.

Hughie,

Was a cow's lick not a section of your hair that wouldn't do what you wanted it to

Maybe that too, PT. That reminded me of the time I used soap on my hair in Stevenston:  :puter

Was that not a Ducks A--e? But that was usually the back of the hair above the neck.

A Duck's A***, I think, was a hair style which resembled a 'V' shape on the back of the neck.

You don't need to take the word of a bald man though  .
