8 this time. Blueyis a nickname given to a redhead, don’t know why but I thought Ranga was a slang word for a redhead.

why is a red headed person called blue in Oz?

Don't know how the blue or Bluey reference started in relation to red headed people here in Australia. Though there was a very popular Australian newspaper cartoon called "Bluey and Curley".

I mentioned before when we first came to Australia I had red hair. Workmates that I didn't know at that time called me Blue or even Bluey. There was I thinking they were calling me Hugh or Hughie, obviously my popularity had proceeded me.
