So basically yourself & bonzo don’t believe a word coming from probably the best two experts in this field, in this country, are saying to you & I , & the government,about how this will affect us all here in the UK & that it’s the Tory government that’s at fault?
Listen to yourselves & get a grip.
Two best experts - //funny //funny //funny
Meg, make light of the situation if you will. And if you want to denounce scientists who are telling it the way it that’s fine. My wife & I have health problems which is a worry. She will be probably losing her job as she works in hotel & catering, it’s inevitable. I’ve recently lost my job & we have elderly parents in the 80s who are sick with worry & trying to tell them to stay in for month after month is a huge challenge. My own sons & daughters are stopping visits from our grandchildren for the immediate future which is a heartbreak.
Of course, many of us are in the same boat & I hope we all get through this unscathed.
But please putting funny emojis about something endangering us all, is not the way to go.

The emojis were for your “expert” comment - nothing to do with the seriousness of the situation - please don’t project your surmise on my posts. You’re not alone - as you say - most of us will be severely hit by this - and we ALL have huge challenges in front of us - but I have a right - as do you - to have an opinion on how the matter is being handled.

Some poets have a gift, and I wish I knew who to credit this to: -

Tae a virus

Twa months ago, we didna ken,
yer name or ocht aboot ye;
But lots of things have changed since then,
I really must salute ye.

Yer spreading rate is quite intense,
Yer feeding like a gannet;
Disruption caused, is so immense,
Ye’ve shaken oor wee planet.

Corona used tae be a beer,
They garnished it wae limes;
But noo it’s filled us a' wae fear,
These days are scary times.

Nae shakin hawns, or peckin lips,
It’s whit they a' advise;
But scrub them weel, richt tae the tips,
That’s how we’ll a' survive.

Just stay inside, the hoose, ye bide,
Nae sneakin' oot for strolls;
Just check the lavvy every hoor,
And stock-take your loo rolls.

Our holidays have been pit aff,
Noo that’s the Jet2 patter;
Pit oan yer thermals, have a laugh,
And paddle ‘ doon the waater. ‘

Canary isles, no for a while,
Nae need for suntan cream;
And a' because o' this wee bug,
We ken tae be..19.

The boredom surely will set in,
But have a read, or doodle;
Or plan yer menu for the month,
Wi' 95 pot noodles.

When these run oot, just look aboot,
A change, it would be nice;
We’ve beans and pasta by the ton,
And twenty stane o rice.

So dinny think yell wipe us oot,
Aye true, a few have died;
Bubonic, bird flu, and Tb
They came, they left, they tried.

Ye might be gallus noo ma freen,
As ye jump fae cup tae cup;
But when we get oor vaccine made,
Yer number will be up.
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.

Be it Willie Sinclair, or someone else, I hope he becomes aware of just how popular his poem has become - I've now received it in emails from two separate sources. I think the bit - "Just stocktake the lavvy every hoor, and stocktake your loo rolls" is classic, and reflects the current panic in supermarkets :lol: .

Catching this virus is scary enough,but it hits home when the over 70’s have to isolate ourselves and you realise they mean Anna and me.We never considered ourselves elderly till now.Everywhere we used to go has now closed,pretty soon I expect to have special permission to go out for a paper.The world is finally united in fighting a war,but we can’t see who the enemy is.I hope you all and your families keep well.

Back home now from our aborted domestic round Australia cruise in celebration of our 56th wedding anniversary. There were no infections on board, so although there is no need for us to quarantine ourselves we have decided to stay out of circulation for 14 days just in case something arises with any of the other passengers.
