Saltcoats Town Crier

I was wondering if anyone had information on a Saltcoats Town Crier. I remember my mother telling us as kids when we were noisy. "Who do you think you are? Wee Jocky Middleton" She did enlighten me later that when she was a girl he used to call out the news outside the town hall. Is there any more information on him or any others who held the position.
