Re: What's the strangest job you've done?
Hello folks,
I,ve had a few strange jobs but one of the weirdest ones was when I worked in the kandy bar in Saltcoats as a donut maker. I was good at it and I was quickly promoted to yum yum maker. The yum yum machine kept breaking down so I ended up getting another promotion to senior bakery fixer. Because I was so good at fixing bakery things I got a call from an up-coming bakery called Greggs, they heard about the magic I could work so they poached me.
I'm now worldwide yum yum fixer for Greggs and spend most of my time advising all yummers all over the world.

I was just going to ask 'what's a yum yum?'!

Our local baker makes Yum Yums. They are made from the same mixture that is used for dough rings and balls but have the shape of a narrow rectangle with a slight twist (about 6 inches long). The top surface has a covering of sugar and icing. Delicious.

After babysitting from the age of 11, and working the tattiefields when I was fourteen and working in a greengrocers, then the coiling dept. in the Factory and then the Scampi factory in Irvine and then the SMT Buses as a conductress, I finally landed the strangest job I ever had. All while I was a teenager.
I moved to America and became a nanny to 4 young privileged children!
Needless to say, they taught me and I taught them a multitude of different values... and we're all the good for it to this day.

Ha ha ha sounds like something for a kids movie.
My strangest [and worst] was working part time in a funeral parlor, hairdressing and applying makeup to the recently deceased . I did it for a week and a few days and had nightmares the whole time, my sister Anna was there too and we felt so bad that we had to tell the Funeral Director we were sorry we had to leave. We had just got our hairdressing licenses so we thought it would be good experience ,,,,,,,,,no way

You can blame oor Jo (the previous poster) for bringing this on. I posted this many years ago on 3TOT. At the time we felt the need for an off topic mailing list to keep the original mailing list strictly to topics about the three towns. Naturally this was well before Viagra entered the scene.
That last comment on reflection on my part was a bit harsh. I know it effected him. This is true. We suspected there was drugs in a dead gangster's body being sent back from Lebanon to Australia. I was in covert cargo examination at the time (naebody kent we looked intae their packages - we were that good). We tossed up to see who would go with the body to the morgue - my mate won .. phew! Onyway it turned out when they x-rayed the body there was a dark area around the groin. So the lady coroner pressed on the area and low and behold the corpse started having an erection. Seems the old gangster had one of them there pump up erection type thingies. My pal found it hard (pun) to see the funny side of it. He has a wee French bi-plane and he flys around Australia during his holidays. Mind you there is a look in his eyes that makes me so glad it's a single seater. Hughie
