Re: Bring a tear tae a gless ee'

Found a shop with Ardbeg today, 55 quid but I had to buy it, first time I've seen it in Thailand.

Bring a tear tae a gless ee'

We went to Hua Hin resort tonight, to have a nice seafood meal and as I was driving the motor bike decided just to drink water. Then I remembered the date so after the food we came back to Cha Am and to a little sea front bar we know. Only decent stuff I could get was Black Label but a large glass o...

Re: ICI Ardeer-Ammonia Sphere

Yes Charles it was very dangerous in the ice. The sphere contained anhydrous ammonia i.e. 100%. It was diluted down to 20% for the process but 20% will kill you just as quick as 100% in a serious emission. Your dad will also remember the trains of cyclohexane (CH, flammable just like petrol) that ca...

Re: ICI Ardeer-Ammonia Sphere

Went up on top of it a few times, there was a box with some 10 minute breathing sets we had to service regularly.

Re: Santa's been and gone - what did you get?

You and I are similar Bob, I also have little or no contact left in Scotland and I also got 2 cards but only SMS on my phone from my 2 Thai nieces. Xmas day was quiet and both of us were suffering from colds so it was bed early. My wife had to go back home to the N. East as her mum was ill so Hogman...

Re: Shooting in the new year

Hi Alex, did it never occur to you that they were there before you. JD. I don't kill animals wantonly but my outside lights and fence are covered in birdshit and the droppings now on my car and motor bikes are the last straw! There before me or not if I have to shoot them I will. Meantime I have be...

Re: Shooting in the new year

Correct JD! And I will be doing just that in a couple of weeks. Where we are living has a large population of bloody pigeons, they shit and try to nest in all the houses and even tried to tear down the netting over my garage. We are going back home on Sunday for a week or so and priority for coming ...

Re: Yet another Christmas Tragedy in Glasgow

Saw this on the BBC news web site this morning, really touching poem and I believe it applies not just to Glasgow but all Scotland, and I hope it brings some comfort to the families. Alex "It's the PEOPLE that make Glasgow it's what we say and do We offer special warmth, a handshake that is tru...

Re: Cigarettes v e-cigs

Michael, I've split the topic so now you are spot on! Like you, I stopped smoking real cigarettes, my time was 7.30pm, on the 12th April 1985. It was without doubt the hardest thing I EVER did, and I used Nicorette chewing gum, which had to be prescribed by your doctor. I smoked from the age of 10,...

Re: drink

Drinking and driving is the norm here, the police take no action unless there is an accident and even then "blame" is apportioned as per the status of the person or in the case of a foreigner (farangs), automatic! A few months ago I saw two farangs in the city of Khon Kaen who were so drun...

Re: brussel sprouts

Horrible taste, never liked the things but used to have them at Xmas dinner. We don't get them out here and I don't miss them. We have a veg called Pakana which generates more gas than sprouts, unfortunately I love the stuff!
