Re: 1911 Census Look-up Request

Re: Sundays ‘back in the day’
For us it was Sunday School in the church hall at St. Johns on Barr Street and afterwards a walk to the wee fish and chip shop in Barr Place. Re: Banks in Saltcoats and Stevenston
Maybe the RBSin Nineyard Street went to Dockhead Street first and then to Chapelwell Street. The Nineyard Street one wasn't automated when I was there. Everything was handwritten in pen and ink, and we had those old fashioned pens which required a nib affixed at the end and we dipped them into the ...

Thank you Irene. Gisbon's it was and I'd forgotten they had a tearoom upstairs.hahaya2004 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 1:09 pm Campbell, could it have been Gibson's? They had a tearoom upstairs. My mum worked there 1964/65 before we moved to Germany.

Re: Banks in Saltcoats and Stevenston
wellparkno9, nothing wrong with your memory. If I'm remembering correctly, when Chapewell Street branch was ready they first moved staff from the Nineyard Street branch and closed it. Within a week or two the staff from 89 Dockhead Street were transferred to the new office and it too was closed. I f...
