international school photo site

I'm putting this here since it isn't actually a school photo, but a link.

Re: OLD FIRM MATCH TODAY

Hey! Those were in alphabetical order. Are you compiling a lexicon of local expressions? :D

Re: EGLINTON SCHOOL SAND

Here's a link to information on Ardrossan and the castle, with maps of the old coastline. It seems there were some natural changes as well as reclaimed land. http://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/catalogue/adsdata/PSAS_2002/pdf/vol_104/104_201_221.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return...

Re: PUB RECOLLECTIONS

The Elms! Now that I didn't know. I'm glad to know he's still on the go with quiz about twenty-five years on.

I'm afraid going tonight isn't an option; I don't live in Scotland any more. If Wednesday is the night, though, I might drop in during the summer.

Thanks for that.

Re: PUB RECOLLECTIONS

Thank you, for honourable mention, PT! :D The bar was indeed a different kettle of fish from the lounge - a sort of Tale of of Two Cities, and there was no connecting door for public access. I used to wonder how the barmen coped with two such different working environments side by side. I only remem...

Re: NOM-DE-PLUME - SELECTION

Checked the link on Ross's Dairy. Now that's new to me. 1964 is before I was born, albeit not by long. I didn't know any of Jean & Margaret's family, but I think they themselves lived on either St Andrew's Drive or Weir Road (can never remember which is which). Last I heard Jean had married Tam....

Re: NOM-DE-PLUME - SELECTION

I was thinking of the happiest times I ever spent living in Ardrossan at the High Tide Quiz on Thursdays and Saturdays. The competition was fierce when Jock Howie wrote the questions, but the fun was great. Then there was the banter with Joe and Tam the barmen, and not to be forgotten, the sisters J...

Re: EGLINTON SCHOOL SAND

I'm no geologist, but you might be right. I do remember in geography being told that the high ground behind the fields along the North shore is actually a raised beach. Standing on top of that ridge and looking down the coast for similar heights might give an impression of an earlier shoreline. Not ...
