Re: The Ship Inn

The last time I was in - admittedly a few years ago - it was being run by Ian Jardine an ex Partick Thisle (and Irvine Vics) player.

Re: Happy birthday

Thanks everybody. Had a great pasta lunch in La Parmigiana with Cathy, then a few beers in the Three Judges with some pals (where Guinness is only £1.99 for the week), sheer heaven. Scott

Knew Al in the sixties and stayed with him for a week in Bournemouth. At the time he was married to my pal Andy Campbell's cousin Arlene.

Re: School trips

Went on the Nevassa to Vigo, Lisbon and Madeira. Had a great time and it was the first time I had been abroad. The ship came back into Sunderland so the first time that I set foot in England was in Sunderland!!

Re: Saltcoats via the Battle of Waterloo

I think that the cottage that I grew up in - one of two next to the Maple Leaf and opposite the garage in Canal Street - was Rockvale Cottage. The Miners' Home next door which became the Maple Leaf and other things was at one time Rockvale Hospital.
