Re: Words we used
Hi, all, Another word I've just rembered is "wheen", which I'm sure you all know means a decent, but unspecified amount. A wee story to illustrate if you'll bear with me. Back in the 60's when the Monsanto nylon plant was being built at Drybridge, local labour was used with overall supervi...

Re: Where do they dig them up
Hi, all, Maybe (probably!) I forgot that not all of our local news is made known internationally for obvious reasons, so hear is an update. Late last year a local (Paisley origonally) author was featured in our national press and on national TV as he was certain that around 50 bodies from HMS Dasher...

Re: Blast from the past
Hi, all, It's resurrection time again. I don''t remember this incident, but do recall another one (possibly around the same time) which invilved our favourite local polis, big Jock Shearer, physically carrying a bomb from Ardrossan harbour to either the copshop or their van-can't recall which-no dou...

Re: does anyone have a claim to fame
Hi, all, Another resurrecction from me. Sorry, but I'm playing catch-up. References to the infamous 9-3 Wemblley massacre reminded me of an interview with Bobby Shearer (former Rangers and Scotland Captain) prior to possibly the last Scotland V Sassenachs game. When he was asked about the 9-3 debacl...

old ayrshire golfer
Hi, all, I heard a story the other day about an elderly Ayrshire golfer who joined a local club and was chatted up by the club professional who was looking to boost his income. On establishing that the older chap was in no need of basic lessons (he had a six handicap) proceeded to ask if there was a...

Re: Where do they dig them up
Where do they dig them up might be what our local author (who shall remain nameless to spare his blushes) might well be asking himself following the recent fiasco at Ardrossan Cemetary.
