Re: Eglinton Class Photo - around 1956-60

Re: Wildlife in Stevenston

Myopa buccata, a species of Conopid fly, - I found a few on Creeping Willow in early May and a couple on Hawthorn now that it’s come into bloom. iain, just wondering if there were any bibio marci on the Hawthorn, also known as St Mark's fly, it would be the right time of year for their emergence. Re: Not the THREETOWNS but close

This being the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo I thought this was interesting. Ensign CHARLES EWART ( 1769 - 23rd May 1846) of the Scots Greys, famous for capturing the regimental eagle of the 45th Regiment of the Line at the Battle of Waterloo was born near Kilmarnock. Reported to be 6'...

Re: Lilly Allena - looking for information

LP, I take it the pic you posted of the street was just after WW2, perhaps 1945 or 46? peterm1711, I'm not really sure of the date but I tend to think it is later than 45,46. If you look at the wee lad in the foreground, he is shielding his eyes from the sun while looking at the photographer. It ma...

Re: Planes over the three towns

Hughie that surprised me, I had a parochial opinion that the flights were in/out of Glasgow or Edinburgh. Now that you have brought this to my attention it explains those high altitude specks in the sky(weather permitting) with the vapour trail. There was one plane that stopped me in my tracks every...
