Googling
After information found on this site I tried googling the name and found lots of information on the Moore & Park families. I entered the name and realised most of them with the information I wanted had ".geni" at the end so I just entered the name with the ending. Lots of the names had...

Re: Made at School
In Stevenston Miss Gaw taught us how to knit a scarf, pokies and socks. At High School we made a white apron to be used in the cooking class, a blouse, a skirt then we knitted a baby jacket and a V-neck jumper. That's all I can remember but I am sure we would have made more than that. I still have a...

Re: Music shop in Saltcoats
Thanks for all the info - now know where it is. Takes time to wind the wheels of memories. He also said he remembers Alison Bell, his Music Teacher, she moved to Aberdeen, has fond memories of Janet Rouse, Norrie Dixon, Norrie Burns, Margaret Swindle. Another memory - Ronnie Brady bought every Elvis...

Music shop in Saltcoats
Listening to the radio in the middle of the night I woke up immediately when I heard the town of Saltcoats mentioned. Interview with Colin Hay, rhythm guitarist with Men at Work who said his parents owned a music shop in Saltcoats from about 1948 - 1957 ? Can anyone recall this shop, where it was an...

Re: World War 1 casualties update
Previously I had never gone into "On this Day" but had time one day and have been reading all the posts over weeks now. I find it very interesting and a snapshot of live all those years ago. Also I think about all the telegrams coming to the towns and the mothers and families dreading the ...

Re: World Scotch Pie Champions
That is the first place I like to visit when back there. I order cakes first, 1 meringue, 1 pineapple tart, 1 strawberry tart and a fruit cake for Jimmy. Then I ask for the pies. I will have to give the pies their special place the next time.

Re: Snowflakes Keep Falling on My Head
I loved the photos with the snow on the trees. Just beautiful.
My sister loves the topic of trees in her paintings and this is another dimension to what trees look like with a winter coat on.
Thanks

Re: Scots pie winner
We visit the Kandy Bar when we go back and visit the Hamilton St Shop and place our order and ask for the cakes to come first, a meringue, fruit cake, strawberry tart, pineapple tart, apple turnover and devour these before the pies and tea come. I just loved the pies and didn't even think about the ...
