I seem to remember in the late fifties etc. the sirens were tested but there were notices posted around the town when ever these tests were to happen.

The workshops for Ardrossan were In central avenue, next to where the doctors surgery is now. I dont know where they were prior to this.

re-Romans in Ardrossan I read somewhere that when they were constructing the railway below the castle into Ardrossan town station remains were found that indicated that there had been a roman camp or something there.

Hi! don't know if it helps much but I always thought that the galloway burn changed names a few times before becoming the galloway burn. i.e. the piggery burn, the stanley burn and as it appeared under the railway line be came the galloway burn.
