I can't remember ever a more low-key build-up from mainstream TV in 52 years of following the World Cup.
Are they embarrassed by the FIFA shenanigans, or by the host country's shenanigans, or is it that the matches are on pay-per-view now?

Re: Rugby vs Football Standards
Do you know if Stuart is available for Scotland again soon. Hogg had been sidelined for a couple of months with injury and has been substituted last couple of times as gets back into regular appearances at Exeter. I hope he'll be back in contention for the 6 Nations squad, all going well over there...

Re: Rugby vs Football Standards
The YouTube highlights of Nigel Owens' career as a rugby ref are well worth watching.
One in particular shows him berating (of all people) Stuart Hogg - and for football-style "diving".

Re: Air Fryer
Woman in shop recommended using greaseproof paper cake tin liners to cut down cleaning because fryer trays can acumulate a baked-on layer that's hard to remove once you finally notice it on top of the black paint finish.
Works well, esp. with smaller portions.

Re: QUEEN ELIZABETH II
Am I missing something, or can anyone point me, anywhere in the world, to a television channel, radio station, daily newspaper, weekly magazine, or social media site, other than Threetowners, which, a fortnight after the event, hasn't mentioned the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II? I suspe...

Re: Historical Sketches - Ardrossan
Thanks you, Hahaya, for this and the many other historical posts that you make. It is important to record the history of a town and your contributions do just that. It must take a long time to transcribe the text so your input is much appreciated. George Agree completely. I was fascinated by the wr...

Re: Archie Robertson - Ardrossan
These regular NG dumping procedures were called "drownings" and the channel was closer to Arran than Ardrossan. I was in Nobel's at the time and close to the people who organised vessel movements but have no recollection at all of this incident.

Re: Co-Numbers
When I was a young boy my uncle Tam often used the expression "it was the biggest tragedy since the Co Quarter", but I was never sure what that meant.
