If your photo, like mine, magnifies twice he's an easy figure to pick out in his 'whites'.
And, if I had een like a hoolit I'd maybe be able to pick out myself. I have a vague memory of Mr. Hamilton standing there one day while a photo was being taken.

It's one o'clock, it's Saturday and......?
It's one o'clock, it's Saturday and you're 12 years old. Where, in the Three Towns, are you likely to go this afternoon?
I'm off to see the Winton Rovers at Winton Park. To avoid paying, I know exactly where I'm going over the wall. I want to keep my money for a pie and Bovril at half-time.

Re: Clyde shipping
Alex,
I saw that ship almost every day over a 15 year period and could not have told you its name. Sailing from Shieldhall should have been a clue but it was invariable known around the Govan area of Glasgow as SS CLUDGIE.

That looks like Mr. Hamilton, the Bathmaster, in the pool shot.

Re: Ginger
My favourite was 'appleade', usually bought in the Palazzo Cafe or other chip shops.
I would like to point out though that 'ginger' was a luxury in my time. Youngsters today seem to think its an essential right to have it available at all time. Tap water doesn't appear to be their thing.

Re: A Stroll round 1960s Saltcoats
Having seen Sam's contribution, I'm more convinced than ever that the gardens were a tribute to Miss Ness when she reached the ripe old age of 100. And, yes, Dr. McCann did live in Ardrossan Road. He wasn't my doctor but as a representative of the emergency services, I can tell you without fear of c...

Re: Toll Locations in Three Towns?
Robert,
There is still a shop on the site of the Toll Stores but its a modern building. I think it's now called the Alpine Stores (after Alpine Terrace which met Vernon Terrace at that location.

Re: A Stroll round 1960s Saltcoats
Susan, I've been looking forward to the start of this walk. Your very eloquent description of the town circa 1960 is a bonus. As I read through it my first question was going to be "How did Ness Gardens get its name?" and then you go and query this yourself. Something was running in my min...

Does this guy merit a mention. Unless my word search technique is wrong he doesn't ever appear to have been mentioned on Threetowners? http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.nndb.com/people/663/000086405/ron-geesin-1-sized.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.nndb.com/people/663/000086405/&...
