Re: Cafe in New St Stevenston 1960s/1970s
Hi, I wAs born in New Street, 73 years ago. I remember those cottages a ross from the station. I so wish I could draw or paint my memories, but I have no talent. We used to goto Reid’s after being at the Grange. A real treat for us with chips and a bottle of Vimto. Aah the memories.

Re: Prominent Local People
My grampa, also Robert Park was the greenkeeper at the Rec bowling green for many years. He p, at one time, made it to the finals of the Scottish bowling competition, but was beaten by a Doctor. I think he was the first working-class man to make it to the finals. My brother still has his bowling bal...

Re: Prominent Local People
Hi Hugh, this Mr Park was not part of my immediate family. My Parks were miners and Factory workers. Perhaps he was part of the Parks who owned the bakery in Stevenston. Having said that, we may have been related way back.

I'm so glad that one of the cottages has survived. We used to play around there as children when there were cottages both sides of the lane. I'm sure it ran almost parallel to Glencairn Street. My aunt lived 70 Glencairn Street which backed on to it. Jean, hi. I've been meaning to respond to this f...

I remember Anna’s cafe, it was further up New Street. Same side of the street as Togneri’s.

I was brought up in New Street. Across the road from us was Togneri’s Cafe. Tina and I had the same birthday of March 26th. That was in the 50’s. My friend and I as teenagers frequented that same cafe, but the owner was a bit weird. I didn’t like him at all. That would have been in the early 60’s.

Re: Nobel's People - documentary about ICI Ardeer in 1988
When I was a wee boy I lived in new Street, when the dayshift finished in the factory you couldn't get across the road for about half an hour. Great video I think I recognise a couple of faces. When I was a wee girl, (many moons ago), I also lived on New Street (36) and I remember all the busses th...

I'm so glad you were able to get your mum's favourite hymn included in the service. And why not? I don't know you, and I can only imagine the pain you must be feeling. Maybe your mum just wanted to be with your dad?
