Re: Threetowns Football

Sorry brian, think I might have misunderstood your question a wee bit there. I thought you meant a senior club representing all threetown's together but I can see now that wasn't really what you were asking.

Re: Threetowns Football

Good question brian f. I think the main answer to it might lie in the fact that Cowdenbeath is one single town, whereas Stevenston, Saltcoats and Ardrossan - however close they are to each other - are all seen as entirely separate places having their own particular identity. On a side note, I rememb...

Re: Before Stagecoach, the original 585 bus

Very good photo of an older 585 that looks to have been taken from near Saltcoats Station bus stop. The Westbury Snooker Club is on the right of the pic close to the junction of Springvale and Union street. It's a long since demolished building that was originally part of old St Mary's primary schoo...

Re: stand up if you love the darts!

I take it the darts are only on Sky sports. Another blow to the common man.... Yep, shame on them. Don't subscribe to Sky or BT Sport etc, but luckily I can get most big league football matches 'Live' online for free along with other major sports coverage, Darts included. -------------------...

Re: stand up if you love the darts!

Gary rode his luck tonight, he was cruising at 3-1 and missing 5 match darts. Great come back from wattimena who also had a match dart in the 7th. Can't say I'm sad to see the back of price can't take to the man at all. Good to see Gary getting through as at this stage that's all that matters. Agre...

Re: three towns - Videos

Had the pleasure of seeing Murray perform live on a couple of occasions in the late 80's, as he was a nephew of the then 'On Cue' snooker club in Stevenston owner Robert Reid and did some shows in the clubs function suite.

Re: Snooker

Wish now that I'd played billiards regularly Retsum, as I'm sure it would have helped to improve my all round snooker game.

Also reckon most if not all of the top level snooker players - either past or present - will include a certain amount of 'billiards time' in their practice routine's.

Re: stand up if you love the darts!

Jings bonzo, that's a bit of a shock as I had no idea Henrik had taken up the derts. And oor Robert will be fair gutted, especially as he's a staunch Gers man. Seriously though, first round shocks are becoming less of a surprise these days as the standard is so high now. Top pro's have to be a...

Re: Snooker

The old Ardeer Rec Club in Stevenston also had at least a couple as that's where some of us initially started playing the game. Yes, remember getting signed in and going upstairs where they had coin in the slot billiard tables - the table's lights came on when the money was deposited - can't recall...

Re: Snooker

Uncle Joe was the influence - it was a long time ago. Joe's story here. I first heard of Joe's exploits from his son John a few year's ago and also remember reading that particular story about him on here round about that time. Think the Unionist Club in Ardrossan still has a Snooker table. The old...
