Re: Help with finding Georgina Nolan b. 1912

Georgina was from Liverpool. People used to marry in the bride's church. Perhaps they still do?

You could try this link for information on her grave: https://www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/births-marriages-and-deaths/deaths/burial-search.aspx The link to Scotlands People: https://w...

Re: cancer care volinteer drivers

Re: Old Bus Route the Villas to Parkhouse Garage

Stivis, I'm not sure if that was the bus I took to the academy, so this is very iffy. I got on at the corner of Union St. and Raise St. Then up Raise St., Sharphill Rd., across the High Rd., along Dalry Rd. for a bit, then left through the 'scheme' as we called it. I'm not sure of the route there, p...

Re: Nelson's Tower - Saltcoats

One of the flags taken on board the "St. Joseph" in the battle of St. Vincent was displayed from the flagstaff under the British flag, with a discharge of guns at the dedication. William Dunlop, Gunner's Mate from Saltcoats, was on board the St. Joseph at that battle. The model of the French frigat...

Re: Oatcakes

I don't make them any more, Meg, but I kept the recipe. Thye're made with oatmeal, so if you use porridge oats for your flapjacks then this recipe won't be of help. 1/2 lb. oatmeal 1/2 tsp. of salt 1tbsp. bacon fat, melted Pinch of baking soda Warm water to mix Mix oatmeal, salt and baking soda and ...

Re: Coronavirus pandemic

I know that George and I will still be self isolating and wearing masks if we need to go into shops and staying home! We walk every morning so we are probably getting more exercise than we would normally do, but must admit I miss my weekly visit to the gym and my couple of swims a week. I don’t thi...
