Re: Jock's Lodge
I really loved seeing these photographs as they did indeed bring back memories. Getting a penny single fag in Ezzies, my traipsing from the Co-op fish shop round past the Bute Bar to the back gate of the town railway station with an old railway bogie with the overnight delivery of fish from Bookless...

Re: Kilmahew St. Ardrossan - 1953 Coronation photo
Hughie, The name Boyce is ringing a bell at the back of my skull, but it was more to do with school and I'm sure it was a John Boyce too, perhaps a son of your uncle! Yes Alec and his family were a couple of doors up from the Oak Rd turning. Across from Eric Abbott and Marion Wilson. Marion's father Matt was a grand singer (baritone) and you could hear him in Oak Rd

Re: Just Joined? Please Introduce Yourself
Bob, Yes I remember your Dad, and Elsie Pllu whose husband tragically died so young. I used to help out with the Butchers shop on the Saturday. Friday was always our busiest day in the fish shop for obvious reasons, as a section of the town had to eat fish on a Friday (myself included) I also rememb...

Where's the time gone?
I should've done this earlier when I joined a couple of years ago, I'm Tommy Walker born in 1946 and ex 98 Kilmahew Street then 35 Oak Road. I went to St Peters Annexe in Ailsa Gardens, then St Peters on South Beach till the 11+ in 1958 which sent me to St Michaels when it was in Irvine. I used to b...

Penny Tray, nothing wrong with your eyesight then. Spot on with all three. I can remember all the boys and about 80% of the girls. I am immediately behind Vera di Carlo. How well I remember the "penny tray".

Re: Scottish independance - how would you vote?
I'm most certainly not averse to Scotland being in control of its own destiny, and especially the idea of getting rid of the total obscenity that is Trident and creating a fairer society. No-one in their right mind would want money spent on this potentially world destroying weapon that frankly no Br...
