Re: What's happened.

The councils need to get their act together. Get these wee towns back on the map and pour some money into it. Regardless......I will be back as my family live there and I still love ardrossan regardless of what it looks like, but new shops to get the punters back down there, is what's needed. Anyon...

Re: What's happened.

I want to say that although I was pointing out the facts of the shops in Saltcoats, and ardrossan, I still love the place to bits. I have looked into buying property down there often and maybe one day a shop will come on my retirement in a couple of years. I still hold an interest and wish I had the...

What's happened.

I came down for a visit last weekend and had a walk through Saltcoats. I felt a bit depressed when I was there as there are more pubs and bookies there than I can ever remember. There are still a couple of little gems of shops, one I bought a lamp out of as it was very unusual, but the rest is made ...

I have so many fond memories of you and your family. Lovely people. It's just unfortunate that life throws things at you and there is a need t...

Re: Scottish independence - how would you vote?

I'm definitely voting yes, but don't want Alex salmons as a leader. They say we will not be in the European Union and will have to get our own currency etc etc etc. apparently Scottish people are not on the same level as the British isles and are not quite bright enough to make the decision, however...

Re: Just Joined? Please Introduce Yourself

Hi I'm Sandra. The youngest of the Hedger clan from 63 Ashgrove Road Ardrossan. I moved away from there when I was 14 years old? I went to Eglington Primary and then the St Peters at the waterfront. I then allegedly went to St Andrews, but was never there lol. I was moved to Dundee where I lived for...

Re: Saltcoats Special

Newt, heres what I've found out so far. The cafe was called The Mayfair, the recipe was a secret of old Mr Maroni's but what I can tell you is, the filling was mince but obviously not beef and there were two options, with or without cheese. That's it. The Mayfair. Thank you so much. These were awes...

Saltcoats Special

I remember a wee yellow cafe in Saltcoats where we would all go as kids and get a 'special' which appeared to be some type of toasted roll with meaty stuff inside it. The wee yellow cafe is no longer there so does that mean the recipe for the Saltcoats Special has disappeared? Or does someone out th...

Re: The swimming pool

Omg. I remember freezing my backside off whilst we used this outdoor pool. The slides were a bit broken and tatty and I remember sliding down a small one and it took half my thigh into it's gaping cracks leaving my little White leg scarred for life. It looked like a shark attack as the blood oozed i...
